Trump’s Secret Nickname in D.C. Leaks – Here’s What the GOP Called Him Behind His Back

It’s no secret that, despite his wild popularity among voters, there are many Republicans opposed to Donald Trump. That is the reason why they are continuing with the primary debates, even though he is dominating in the polls.

Anti-Trumpers still exist within the GOP. One of the most infamous–and now out of a job–was former Rep. Liz Cheney. Cheney lost her seat after openly opposing the former president.

Now, it appears she is trying to cash in on her fading notoriety in a new book. And in that book, she claims some House Republicans had a “nickname” for the former president.

From The Washington Examiner:
Cheney said Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) called Trump “Orange Jesus” while he was lined up to sign a sheet objecting to the electoral votes for the 2020 election, according to an excerpt from her book Oath and Honor given to CNN.

“Among them was Republican Congressman Mark Green of Tennessee,” Cheney wrote. “As he moved down the line, signing his name to the pieces of paper, Green said sheepishly to no one in particular, ‘The things we do for the Orange Jesus.’”

As is often the case, disgraced former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney has come out with a book. The ironically titled Oath and Honor appears to be an attempt by the anti-Trump Republican (considered a RINO by many Americans) to cash in on her public feud with the former president.

In one excerpt, she claims that Republican congressman Rep. Mark Green complained while signing a document objecting to the electoral votes from 2020. She claims he said, “The things we do for the Orange Jesus.”

Nickname aside, Cheney seems to suggest that Green begrudgingly signed the paper opposing the 2020 Election Results. As if he was forced to do it for Trump, whom he snidely called “Orange Jesus.”

But such a claim should be taken with a grain of salt. It does not appear, thus far, that Rep. Green has confirmed he said this. And Cheney has a personal grudge against Trump and reason to undermine him.

Her book is coming out as we near the 2024 Election and as Trump is fighting to win the GOP nomination. Has Cheney timed this book so she could somehow insult Trump and make him look bad before American voters?

We cannot say for sure. But Cheney had previously mulled a presidential run herself, proving she had no interest in seeing Trump gain the nomination again.

Her new book will most likely be panned by Trump supporters and conservatives, but praised by Democrats looking for new reasons to hate the former president.

Key Takeaways:

  • Liz Cheney claimed a congressman called former President Trump, “Orange Jesus.”
  • She revealed this in her upcoming book about her time as a congresswoman.
  • Cheney was primaried out of her seat after being censured for voting against the president.
