President Donald Trump signed a measure on Tuesday aimed at creating a federal task force that will tackle how agencies can help prevent veteran suicides.

Trump called the epidemic of veteran suicides “a tragedy of staggering proportions” during a signing event alongside administration officials and representatives from various veterans’ groups.

The staggering reality is that twenty veterans take their lives every day. That’s a fact.

That’s something that few Americans can accept. Why aren’t we doing more to help these men and women?

Men and women who have dedicated their lives to keep us safe.

Many of them suffer from painful experiences and injuries. They’re just human and sometimes, the pain is too much to bear.

But they can get the help they need if we offer it.

Many lives can be saved through this task force. This new cabinet-level group will create a road map strategy across agencies. With the goal of preventing veteran suicides.

The task force will be led by Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie.

This will go a long way in addressing this crisis. Federal agencies will take special focus providing mental care for veterans.

Veterans who feel like they are at the end of their rope will have resources. They will have people who can help them.

This will also raise awareness among Americans, so we can do something to help our friends and neighbors.
