Donald Trump is currently the GOP 2024 frontrunner. But he is clearly scared of one rival, Gov. Ron DeSantis. The Florida Republican has not announced a 2024 bid, though many suspect he will soon. Regardless, Trump seems very worried about DeSantis’s chances and has not failed to attack the fellow Republican on every occasion. But his recent attack crossed the line, for many conservatives.
From Daily Wire:
Trump used data from the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) and the Florida Policy Institute to attack DeSantis for allegedly leading the state “to tumble into complete and total delinquency and destruction.” […]
Trump also posted an article on social media from far-left MSNBC host Joy Reid that attacked DeSantis.
Uh, what? Trump is trying to float the false notion that Florida is failing, under DeSantis’s leadership. Even though countless Americans, including Trump, have relocated there in recent years. Conservatives were shocked that Trump used claims from biased, left-wing groups (including an article from unhinged leftist Joy Reid) to criticize DeSantis’s leadership.
Trump critics will easily use this to expose Trump’s insecurities towards DeSantis. The governor won a massive re-election victory–by over 1 million votes–without help from Trump. Trump had nothing to do with DeSantis’s success as governor.
And that could impress enough voters to get DeSantis into the White House.
Plenty of people came out to condemn Trump’s shocking–and largely untrue–attacks against DeSantis. And it seems for the first time, DeSantis is coming out against his former ally.
From Daily Wire:
“A leader must have the confidence to stand all alone if need be,” DeSantis said at the Utah GOP Convention on Saturday… “Leaders take the bull by the horns and make the decisions for themselves. They don’t subcontract out their leadership to health bureaucrats like Dr. Fauci.”
Wow. DeSantis took a shot against Trump during a speech in Utah. He appeared to condemn Donald Trump’s leadership during COVID when the president handed the reigns of the country to far-left bureaucrat Anthony Fauci.
During the pandemic, Trump’s own campaign bragged about how he blindly obeyed Fauci’s decision to shut down the country and force various mandates. Trump also strongly backed the COVID vaccines, which Americans have since come to distrust.

Trump can blast DeSantis all he wants, but he knows the truth. The fallout from the pandemic was largely Trump’s fault. DeSantis is nailing Trump for bowing to a man like Fauci, who was deliberately trying to hurt America, at the behest of his allies in China.
I don’t think Trump will have a comeback for that.
- Trump used claims from left-wing sources in an attack on Gov. DeSantis.
- Conservatives criticized Trump for using biased, Democrat sources.
- DeSantis slammed Trump during a speech, for handing the nation’s leadership to Anthony Fauci.
