Trump-Backed GOP Leader Gets Huge Decision – This Victory is Huge for Donald’s Party

This week, several more states held Republican primaries. Trump has already earned the party’s nomination. But he continues to rack up support from a large number of Republicans—as we head toward the November election.

But other critical primary races are happening. These will help decide who appears on the ballot beneath Donald Trump.

In one state, Trump threw his weight behind a Republican. He was running against a state senator considered the “Old Guard.” The polls showed the two going back and forth in the lead. But now, we know who came out victorious.

From Washington Examiner:
Republican Bernie Moreno, Donald Trump’s chosen candidate for Senate in Ohio, defeated state Sen. Matt Dolan on Tuesday night, sparing the former president an embarrassing defeat in a state he won handily in 2020.

Moreno, who will face incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown in the fall, led the Republican primary by more than 17 points with nearly 90% of the votes counted, defying expectations of a close race. He received 50% to Dolan’s 33%, with Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose placing a distant third.

Trump-backed Bernie Moreno won his primary race against Ohio state Sen. Matt Dolan. Moreno will face off against Democrat incumbent Sherrod Brown for the U.S. Senate seat in the general election.

Moreno defeated Dolan by a large margin, 50% to 33%. This will be seen as much of a victory for Trump as for Moreno. Trump won Ohio in 2020. Despite being considered a swing state, it is starting to lean more and more red.

Picking up another Senate seat would be a huge victory for the GOP going into 2025. Moreno has a chance to help Republicans take the majority in the Senate. Considering he won the primary thanks to Trump’s aid, it is a good sign for both of them in the coming general election.

Signs point to Trump winning Ohio yet again. With his influence, Moreno might knock Brown out of his seat.

If Republicans hope to undo the damage caused by the Biden administration, they will need a strong majority in both chambers of Congress. American First candidates are very popular among voters, but old-guard Republicans continue to stand in their way.

If more candidates like Moreno start winning, though, they could turn things around.

Key Takeaways:

  • Trump-backed Ohio candidate won the GOP primary for U.S. Senate.
  • Bernie Moreno defeated establishment Matt Dolan, 50-33.
  • Moreno will run against Democrat Sherrod Brown, the incumbent.
