During every election season, we see celebrities come out in support of the candidates of their choice. Most of the time, Americans are used to seeing big-name actors or entertainers endorse the leading Democrat. The entertainment industry came out in force to support Barack Obama and even Hillary Clinton.
Once in a while, a celebrity will use his or her star power to raise funds for a candidate. That’s just what one legendary icon did for a current presidential candidate. But this household name stunned voters over the candidate he is rallying behind. Now, even the D.C. establishment is sitting up and taking notice–at how much money they raised.
From Fox News:
Rock and roll legend Eric Clapton raised $2.2 million for Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., at a recent campaign event.
Clapton on Monday performed at a Los Angeles fundraiser for Kennedy in support of his primary campaign against President Biden…
The private concert brought in $2.2 million to Kennedy’s campaign coffers, according to a campaign press release. The campaign said it raised $1 million while the remaining $1.2 million went to a political action committee supporting the Democrat’s presidential bid.
Music icon Eric Clapton headlined a fundraiser for Democrat candidate for president Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In just one night, he brought in $2.2 million for the dark horse figure. RFK has seen a steady rise in support among Democrat voters, despite a lack of acknowledgment by the liberal establishment.
Even Republicans have come out in support of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign. Sen. Ted Cruz called on the White House to provide Kennedy with Secret Service protection, questioning why Biden had denied it. Kennedy and his family have been the target of threats and other thwarted attacks, but the administration still refuses to provide security.
Kennedy has risen in Democrat polls in recent months. He has called on Biden to debate him, but many Democrats within the party refuse to even consider a true primary. Despite this, it appears Kennedy continues to gather support, especially among moderate voters disgruntled by Biden’s socialist leanings.
It’s unclear whether Kennedy will run as a third-party candidate, should he be boxed out of the Democrat primaries. Cornell West is already running as a third-party candidate for the Green Party. Another liberal running as a third-party candidate would further jeopardize Biden’s chances.
But it is undeniable that Kennedy’s message is resonating with more and more Americans. If could be ignoring him, to his own peril.
