Anti-Trump Republican Just Got Arrested – He’s Going Down Hard for 33 Crimes

Over the last few months, Democrats have mounted campaigns to get Trump kicked off the ballot. In numerous states, lawsuits have been launched urging judges to prevent Americans from voting for the former president.

But many of these cases, in various states, have been created by a Texas man named John Castro.

Castro has sued Trump in as many as 29 states, trying to block him from appearing on the ballot. He has so far failed. And now, it looks as if karma is catching up with Castro—in the form of an arrest.

From Breitbart:
John Castro, a Texas man who fought to keep former President Trump off the ballot, has been arrested on federal tax charges.

“John Anthony Castro was indicted last week on 33 counts of aiding the preparation of false tax returns,” noted The Hill. “Prosecutors claim he ran a virtual tax preparation business that provided customers with tax returns beyond what they were actually owed, defrauding the government.”

John Castro, a so-called Republican from Texas, tried to sue Trump in 29 states. He made claims that Trump was ineligible from running, due to the 14th Amendment. Castro’s cases are often thrown out because he does not have standing to sue.

But just last week, this man was arrested and charged with 33 counts of tax crimes. According to investigators, Castro colluded to file false tax information for people filing their returns. He would allegedly lie to the government to get large refunds for customers, which they would split with Castro.

An undercover police officer posed as a customer. A reputable tax preparer offered him a $373 tax return. But Castro promised a return as high as $6,007.

Castro appears defiant, claiming he had already paid the IRS $700,000 to resolve “discrepancies.” He claims the arrest and charges are “politically motivated,” but did not appear to explain how.

Much like disgraced Republican George Santos, Castro maintains he is 100% innocent. He is unwilling to take a plea deal, although it does not appear he was offered one. It is unknown if authorities will also prosecutor Castro’s alleged customers, though it is unlikely the IRS will go after them.

Key Takeaways:

  • Anti-Trump Republican John Castro has been indicted on 33 counts of tax fraud.
  • The Texan helped customers file false information to receive larger tax refunds.
  • Castro has sued Trump in 27 states to block him from the ballot.
