What’s Happening:
For years, Project Veritas has been a major thorn in the left’s side. But recently, the group did the unthinkable and forced out its founder and CEO, James O’Keefe. Trumped-up charges, made apparently by a group of employees, led to the man leaving the journalism organization he put on the map.
But it doesn’t look as if the people who turned on him are enjoying the fruit of their betrayal. It seems the public is on O’Keefe’s side, especially after his goodbye speech. Some supporters might be already ditching PV to rally O’Keefe’s future venture. Because a leaked email shows the group is fearing the worst.
From The Post Millennial:
An email obtained by The Post Millennial shows that Project Veritas has reached out to donors to ask them to stay with the company despite founder and CEO James O’Keefe having been pushed out by the board of directors…
“We hope that you might continue to give us a chance,” the email says, pleading with donors. “We can’t stress how separate the board’s role is from daily operations here at PV. We are still grinding and pursuing stories of great public importance.”
Oh, really? It looks like the goons who turned on O’Keefe are now circling the wagons. One of PV’s employees, Bethany Rolando, hastily sent off an email to donors. In it, she begged them to keep supporting the company, even though O’Keefe is gone.
She even went as far as to claim the move by the board to fire O’Keefe is “separate” from the work of its journalists. Except, she was one of sixteen employees who signed a letter to the board, accusing O’Keefe. It was that letter that triggered the series of events that got him fired.
So, maybe the journalists aren’t that far removed from the board?
Why is the group quickly sending out this email? I wonder if donors quickly contacted PV, outraged that they forced out O’Keefe? This organization is a non-profit and depends entirely on donor support.
To kick out O’Keefe really looked like killing their golden goose. Even in the email, Rolando claims that they “hope he returns.” Really? You are the ones who turned on him. Then, the email claims that the group is conducting some kind of audit, suggesting O’Keefe violated “administrative procedure.”
So, in the same breath, they praised O’Keefe and slandered him. Smart move, you guys. Chances are, O’Keefe will land some lucrative deal with the Daily Wire or some other company. Or, he will launch a new grassroots group and continue his work as before.
The only people who will lose out are the ones who turned on him in the first place.
Key Takeaways:
- Project Veritas sent an email to donors begging them to keep supporting the org.
- This comes days after the group fired its founder and CEO, over dubious charges.
- O’Keefe vowed to continue his work, perhaps under another banner.
