Election Day is finally upon us. Despite Democrats best efforts to ensure that Kamala Harris would be trouncing Donald Trump by now, the race appears to be as tight as can be.
This is especially true in the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania. Indeed, the race in that state could easily be decided by just a small number of votes.
The stakes of the Pennsylvania race are as high as can be, as the winner of that state will have a large chance of winning the entire election. That’s why Trump and his fellow Republicans are unleashing a secret weapon in Pennsylvania in the form of a voting group that Democrats will likely never see coming.
The Amish-Mennonite community that calls Pennsylvania home has long been reliably conservative, given their devout faith. However, since they don’t like engaging with modern societal norms such as driving cars or using cellphones, it has been difficult to convince them to vote in the past.
In this election, however, that may be changing.
“You have a minority of the Amish who are now farming and agricultural. They ran out of land in Lancaster County a long time ago. So, there’s a new generation of Amish who are business owners,” said Rep. Lloyd Smucker, R-Pa., the first Amish-born member of Congress.
“You have a minority of the Amish who are now farming and agricultural,” he continued. “They ran out of land in Lancaster County a long time ago. So, there’s a new generation of Amish who are business owners. So, they’re becoming much more engaged politically than their parents were.”
It is estimated that 90,000 Amish live in Pennsylvania.
From Fox News:
Smucker said there were 1,500-2,000 new voter registrants in his district who are Amish, adding he expects thousands more to cast ballots this cycle. Two former presidents — George W. Bush and Donald Trump — actively canvassed the community, which by and large doesn’t vote due to customs surrounding privacy.…Smucker said many Amish “love” Trump for his small-government platform. With faith at the core of Amish life, they also appreciate Trump’s own focus on religious liberty. That focus, he said, also mirrors many other conservatives’ priorities outside Lancaster.
Trump Signs In Amish Country
Over the past few days, Trump signs have been seen in Amish country on some farms and occasionally on a horse and buggy.
President Trump,
I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I spoke to an Amish man last night that really wants you to come to Lancaster, PA.
He said more Amish people would be able to attend to your rally if it’s on a Saturday.
He also suggested to advertise in the local… pic.twitter.com/OxEjIrnTZB

Smucker explained that Amish values align well with Trump’s.
“It doesn’t matter where you start,” he said of the Amish world. “You know, if you work hard … play by the rules, you’re going to have a really great chance of getting ahead in this country of ours.”
“It’s the idea of strong individual responsibility, a strong family unit and then a strong local community or local church,” Smucker continued. “And when you have all of that in place, you don’t need a big government. And that’s exactly how the Amish look at that.”
The race in Pennsylvania is so razor thin that quite literally every vote will count in a big way. If the Amish of Pennsylvania can stand by their values by turning out to support Trump, they could potentially play a vital role in winning this election for him!
Key Takeaways:
- Amish voters could prove to be Trump’s secret weapon in Pennsylvania.
- The race between Trump and Harris is razor thin in this battleground state.
