This week, 13 fallen American heroes finally came home after giving their lives in service to their country. They were casualties of the Kabul incident, which has become a hotbed of dangerous activity.
Ever since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, U.S. soldiers and citizens have been in grave danger in that country. And unfortunately, some of them have already fallen, and they deserve our respect.
However, they apparently didn’t get any respect on the House floor.
According to several Republican sources, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi committed a serious mistake — and she may have difficulty defending her actions.
Democrat leaders have been accused of being less than supportive of the American military in the past. And President Joe Biden has taken a lot of heat for his allegedly disinterested dealings with Gold Star moms.
In contrast, many say former President Donald Trump was more of a friend to our nation’s active and retired heroes.
It doesn’t help that Pelosi and her fellow Democrats didn’t seem interested in paying homage to those who recently fell, either. Now, multiple Republicans are sounding off.
Via The Daily Wire:
Republican representatives are blasting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) after they say she blocked them from reading the names of the 13 U.S. service members who were killed in Afghanistan on the House floor.
Many GOP members quickly took to social media to denounce Pelosi’s move.
Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) said:
How badly do Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats want to cover up this Afghanistan debacle?
They just blocked Members of Congress from reading the names of the service members who sacrificed their lives in Afghanistan last week.
Don’t you think our military deserves better?

Gimenez isn’t the only right-wing politician to condemn liberals and Democrats for seemingly ignoring our nation’s veterans.
Since the start of the Afghanistan ordeal, the Biden administration has come under fire for putting our nation’s forces in precarious positions, and stranding “hundreds” of American citizens.
After this, Pelosi could’ve allowed the GOP to make a respectful gesture in the House, but it just didn’t happen.
Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) told The Floridian:
We gaveled in, had a prayer, said the Pledge of Allegiance, took a moment of silence with pretty much all Republican veterans, then asked to be recognized to read names and bring up Afghanistan legislation.
They did not acknowledge us, and just closed the House down.
Another Florida Republican decided to chime in as well. Rep. Greg Steube is a combat veteran and understands the trials and tribulations a soldier endures.
So he was especially angered by the House Democrats refusing to read those names. As he posted on Twitter:
House Democrats just refused to recognize Republican veterans on the House Floor to read the names of our fallen service members in Afghanistan.
That’s how far our nation has fallen.

This isn’t what the Biden White house needed to help restore approval and confidence.
According to various outlets and polls, the President’s approval rating has been dropping steadily in recent months. And it seems to have dropped even farther since the Afghanistan fiasco.
He speeches to the country haven’t been received particularly well, either. Biden has been called out for talking more about himself, for instance, and failing to properly pay his respects to our country’s fighters.
It will be difficult for Pelosi and House Democrats to defend their decision on the floor.
One would think they could take some time to simply read those names – it wouldn’t have taken more than a minute – but for some reason, it just wasn’t allowed.
And that’s also likely to haunt Democrats in the future, and potentially hurt their 2022 midterm election chances.
Key Takeaways:
- Nancy Pelosi reportedly didn’t allow the GOP to read the names of the 13 fallen service members on the House floor.
- Republicans say this is an outrageous insult to our casualties and veterans.
- It doesn’t help restore confidence in the Biden administration, as the President has already been accused of not properly honoring our nation’s heroes.
