What’s Happening:
Brendan Fraser might have won an Oscar for Best Actor, but there was little else worth celebrating on “Hollywood’s Biggest Night.” The Academy Awards was once considered a highlight for movie fans all across the country.
Yet these days, the show has become ground zero for entitled actors’ biggest and most obnoxious political tirades. The show has become deeply politicized, especially with the selection of nominees and hosts. This year, one of Hollywood’s favorite puppets (and traitors to men) Jimmy Kimmel hosted.
Big surprise, people weren’t interested in seeing him.
From Breitbart:
Jimmy Kimmel once again proved to be ratings poison, with Sunday night’s Oscar telecast drawing a pathetic 16 million (give or take) viewers…
Friedman is embarrassing himself with his “Oscars are Back!” headline. How could the Oscars be back when last year 16.6 million tuned in, and that was a catastrophe—when that was the second-lowest viewership in Oscar telecast history?
A few establishment writers are claiming the Oscars’ 16 million viewers was a triumph. However, that is lower than last year, when the show brought in 16.6 million. The lowest ratings were in 20201, the year following COVID–when the show was barely a show.
But if you look back just a few years, you’ll discover that the Oscars is on a pathetic, downward spiral. Back in 2013, the show boasted a staggering 40.3 million viewers. Between 2014-2017, the show averaged around 37 million viewers.
Since then, it’s all been downhill. Hmm, what happened after 2017 that would turn off viewers? Oh, right, Trump became president and Hollywood lost its mind. Democrats decided to use award ceremonies (and everything else they did) to lecture Americans about voting for a man who vowed to put them first.
Since that time, the show has seen a sharp decline, along with movies, TV shows, music, and everything else produced by the “woke” left. Hollywood can blame video games and other forms of competition all they want.
But it seemed like plenty of Americans were eager to watch the show, when actors weren’t telling them how bad they were for voting Republicans.
Do you think they’ll ever learn?
Key Takeaways:
- The Oscars had a dismal viewership of 16 million.
- The show has seen declining ratings ever since Hollywood went “woke.”
- Most content produced by Hollywood has strong, political overtones, since 2017.
