We all know the saying. If you “go woke,” you “go broke.” Just ask numerous Hollywood studios, celebrities, and corporations if they made it out okay after pushing far-left politics. In fact, some of America’s favorite pastimes were nearly destroyed, when they pushed woke activism over sports.
Apparently, the NHL didn’t get the memo. Because only recently has the league embraced radical, far-left ideology. Instead of, you know, playing hockey! In a recent pregame warm-up, the Philadelphia Flyers required its players to wear a jersey celebrating the homosexual agenda. But one player stood up to them.

However, amid yet another pro forma display of corporate wokeitude, Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov showed a rare moment of actual conviction: He refused to wear the uniform.
According to ESPN, Provorov declined to come out for the pregame warm-up during a Tuesday night NHL game against the Anaheim Ducks because he felt he could not, in good conscience, wear the Flyers’ “Pride Night” warmup jersey.
Ivan Provorov, a player for the Philadelphia Flyers, refused to attend a pregame warm-up warming the colors of the rainbow flag. Apparently, the NHL is pushing an LGBT agenda to bamboozle gay people into liking hockey.
They are even raising money, not to help the poor, but to “grow the game in diverse communities.” What the hell does that mean? Why is the NHL pandering to gays? If a gay person likes hockey, they’ll watch a game. Why would gay people suddenly love a sport they previously despised, just because they wave around a rainbow flag?
This has little to do with reaching a new gay audience. It has everything to do with the “woke” executives running this sport trying to force this agenda down regular fans’ throats. Since when does watching hockey require indoctrination into the LGBT religion? Give us a break.
Provorov kicked the hornet’s nest by refusing to bow the knee to this ridiculous agenda. Don’t be surprised if his team and the league turn on him. But he is doing what many athletes are too cowardly to do. He is standing up to this radical, political cult. It might cost him his job.
But, hey, at least he can sleep at night. We can’t say the same for the rest of them.
