Gavin Newsom Just Hired Photographer of the President for $200K to Prepare Him for 2028

Speculation is mounting that Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom may be planning a presidential run for 2028. His latest move has only fueled these rumors. Indeed, Newsom just hired a presidential photographer to follow him around.

California has been run into the ground on Newsom’s watch. Despite this, he is still widely regarded as being the future of the Democratic Party.

Judging by his latest move, it seems that Newsom himself has big plans for 2028.

From The Daily Caller:
The California Governor’s Office hired photographer Charles Ommanney, who has worked for celebrity clients and worked as a photojournalist, in January to serve as its director of photography; a job that comes with a $200,000 taxpayer-funded salary, Politico reported on Friday. Many political insiders suspect that Newsom may have national ambitions, pointing to his eagerness to challenge Republicans outside his state on hot-button issues.

“Charles plays an instrumental role in communicating the work of state government across visual platforms — including social media, helping us meet Californians where they are at,” Newsom spokeswoman Izzy Gardon told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Ommanney has worked for celebrity clients such as Mark Zuckerberg and Barack Obama, according to Politico. He also appeared on “The Real Housewives of D.C.” in 2010, according to the New York Times. He also worked for decades in the press as a photojournalist at outlets like Newsweek and The Washington Post, at times traveling to destinations like Afghanistan or Rwanda to cover ongoing conflicts, according to his LinkedIn.

Newsom’s photographer makes almost as much as the governor himself, who drew a salary of $234,101 last year, according to Politico.

Now that is quite a gig!

Democrats Are Desperate For Charismatic Lawmakers

It should be noted that Democrats are hopelessly lacking when it comes to having charismatic politicians. After all, the current presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is one of the least popular vice presidents of all time.

While Newsom might be considered to be a politician who has likability on his side, his record simply does not hold up to any kind of scrutiny.

From The Washington Examiner:
California is now home to more than a third of the nation’s homeless population, despite Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) $24 billion bid to solve the crisis.

After a state audit revealed California failed to track more than $24 billion in taxpayer funds targeting homelessness, Newsom has faced criticism for his leadership on the issue. The report revealed that the California Interagency Council on Homelessness, the state agency that oversees homelessness, did not provide “accurate, complete, and comparable financial and outcome information from homelessness programs.” Cal ICH consists primarily of Newsom appointees.

If that’s what happened to California under Newsom’s leadership, just imagine what will potentially happen to America on his watch!

Given how unlikable Harris is in every way, it won’t be surprising if Democrats start setting their sights on 2028 in the coming months. While they may think Newsom is their best option, they shouldn’t be shocked if he ends up failing miserably, just like most of their candidates tend to do these days.

Key Takeaways:

  • Newsom hires a presidential photographer to follow him.
  • Is Newsom considering a presidential run in 2028?
  • California has not done well under Newsom’s leadership.
