Most political experts agree that swing states will have a tremendous impact in the next election. Donald Trump stunned pundits in 2016 by winning states nobody thought possible. And, if he is to return to the White House, he will need to win more than a few of these states.
Last fall, some polling gave upset numbers about battleground states. It doesn’t appear that Biden nor any other candidate can take these states for granted.
Now, a new report is coming out from a critical swing state. The numbers won’t come as a surprise to many voters. But what they say about Trump’s last GOP rival is truly stunning. This could settle the election months early.
From Just the News:
Former President Donald Trump is five points ahead of President Joe Biden in Michigan, but when Trump is replaced with Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, she comes in nine points behind Biden, according to a new poll that shows the tense stakes for the 2024 presidential race in the vital swing state.Trump, the likely 2024 Republican presidential nominee, would lead Biden 42% to 37% if the election were held this month in Michigan…
Biden would beat Haley 35% to 26% and Kennedy would come in at 23% in Michigan, the poll showed.
A new poll from Michigan shows Trump defeating Biden 42-37 when Robert Kennedy Jr. is in the race. But, to the shock of Nikki Haley supporters, Biden defeated Haley 35-26 if Kennedy was running.
The poll suggests that RFK’s campaign would help Trump defeat Biden. At the moment, it looks as if more Democrat voters are leaning toward Kennedy than Republicans. It is possible that Robert Kennedy will take away far more voters from Biden than Trump, at least in Michigan.
This is bad news for Haley, who refuses to drop out of the GOP primaries. She has long claimed she is the best Republican to defeat Biden since Trump already lost to Biden in 2020. But if Michigan is any indicator of the rest of the country, Haley is in a very bad position to defeat Biden.
That could be because Trump supporters will be unwilling to back Haley, should she get the nomination. It might be that enough of them will break from the GOP to back RFK, or not vote at all.
What is truly significant is how badly Biden is doing in the blue-collar state. He won Michigan in 2020. But now there is a very good chance Trump can take in back this year, given Biden’s performance.
It is likely many Michigan voters have buyer’s remorse over Biden and want a change.
Key Takeaways:
- Trump is beating Biden in Michigan by a strong margin, according to a new poll.
- Nikki Haley, however, will lose to Biden if she becomes the nominee.
- Both outcomes are based on whether Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is running.
