Netflix Co-Founder Donates $7M to Kamala, Quickly Sees Record Cancellations

Immediately after Kamala Harris became the Democratic presidential nominee, the liberal elites of Hollywood wasted no time in throwing their support behind her. When Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race back in July, Democrat voters never had a say in the matter when it came to choosing who his replacement would be.

That didn’t stop the out-of-touch liberal elites of Hollywood from immediately falling in line and backing Harris with everything they had. One such leftwing elite of the entertainment world was Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings. Days after Harris was anointed as Biden’s replacement, he donated a whopping $7 million to her campaign.

Unfortunately for Hastings, however, it didn’t take long for this to blow up in his face. Indeed, Hastings was hit with such a massive dose of karma that his fellow liberal Hollywood power players should think twice before donating to a radical liberal like Harris.

From Fox Business:
Netflix suffered a surge in cancellations in the days after its co-founder and chairman, Reed Hastings, endorsed Kamala Harris for president and donated millions to her campaign. The rate of cancellations – churn in industry parlance – nearly tripled in the US after his endorsement, according to the researcher Antenna. The streaming giant has the lowest churn in the industry.

Customers in the US canceled Netflix at a higher rate in July — 2.8% — than any month since February. That is largely due to the company’s decision to phase out its basic tier. Basic was the cheapest advertising-free version of Netflix. But the five-day period after Hastings’ endorsement was unusual, even for July.

Hastings officially endorsed Harris in a social media post on July 23.

“Congrats to Kamala Harris — now it is time to win,” he wrote at the time.

The very next day, Hastings boasted that he had donated $7 million to the Harris campaign.

More from Bloomberg:
Shortly after Hastings’ endorsement, fans of Donald Trump began urging people to drop the service. Some posted photos showing they had closed their accounts alongside the hashtag #CancelNetflix. Three days later after the donation became public, July 26, was the single worst day for Netflix cancellations this year.

Liberal Elites Of Hollywood Are Out Of Touch With Reality

Hollywood elites like Hastings think they have their finger on the pulse when it comes to what America needs. However, this could not be further from the truth. Instead, the liberal elites of the entertainment world have lost all touch with reality. As they enjoy the comfort of their mansions in Beverly Hills, millions of Americans are struggling just to put food on the table. This is due to the fact that Biden and Harris have caused the economy to go to shambles thanks to their woke policies.

Hastings currently has an estimated net worth of $4.3 billion. Not only does that mean that his $7 million donation to Harris is a drop in the bucket for him. It also means that his financial status won’t change much based on who the president is. Sadly, millions of Americans can’t say the same thing. The rest of us simply can’t afford to keep living in the terrible economy that has come to be under the Biden-Harris regime.

The liberal elites of Hollywood may think that they can dictate how the rest of us vote. The mass Netflix cancellations in the wake of Hastings’ donation, however, just goes to show that they don’t have nearly the kind of power that they think they do. In the end, Hasting and his fellow wealthy liberals shouldn’t be surprised if they end up learning the hard way they wasted their money on Harris when they donated millions to her.

Key Takeaways:

  • Netflix Co-founder Reed Hastings donates $7 million to Kamala Harris.
  • Three days later, Netflix saw its single worst day for cancellations this year.
  • The liberal elites of Hollywood don’t have the sway over voters that they think they do.
