Hours After Pence Outed for Classified Docs – Donald Trump Roars Back With Strong Response of Defense

What’s Happening:

The ongoing classified documents scandal took a strange turn this week. Former Vice President Mike Pence announced he had found a few classified documents at his home in Indiana. According to reports, his team had only found a “small number” of documents in “two small boxes.”

Of course, that is enough for the left to go on a field day. Considering Pence’s possible future within government, we should expect the media to skewer him–even though they came to Joe Biden’s defense. And now, Donald Trump is speaking out over the news. But what he said might surprise you.

From The Post Millennial:

Former President Donald Trump released a statement on Tuesday after former Vice President Mike Pence reported that he had documents that were marked as classified in his home. Trump posted on Truth social, “He never did anything knowingly dishonest in his life. Leave him alone!”

Woah. Trump posted to his social network, defending Mike Pence after the news of his classified documents came out. He called his former running mate an “honest man,” who has never done “anything knowingly dishonest in his life.”

Trump provided a strong defense of the former vice president. It is possible Trump could further come to Pence’s aid, by stating that documents Pence took home had been declassified by him personally. Regardless, it is somewhat surprising that Trump is going to the mat for Pence, given their falling out.

After the events of January 2021, it seemed clear that Trump and Pence were no longer on speaking terms. Trump turned on Pence after the former vice president voted to certify the 2020 Election results–despite Trump’s protests.

And rumors continue to grow that Pence is one of several Republicans eyeing a 2024 run. Pence has made appearances in recent months that suggest he is preparing a campaign of his own. Some people might expect Trump to say nothing. Or, to nail Pence to help his own campaign.

Instead, Trump took the high road to defend a man he once worked closely with.

Key Takeaways:

  • Donald Trump came to Mike Pence’s defense after news broke about classified documents.
  • Pence announced his team found a small number of classified documents at his home.
  • Trump stated on his social network that Pence is innocent and has never done anything “dishonest in his life.”
  • Pence is considered a possible 2024 candidate and rival to Donald Trump.
