What’s Happening:

After the drama last week, the House has a new Speaker. Republican Kevin McCarthy now holds the gavel. And he’s wasting no time reshaping the House and making good on many promises. That includes big changes to House rules, bringing to an end Pelosi’s era of tyranny and intimidation.

But McCarthy is far from finished. With Republicans now in the driver’s seat, GOP now controls powerful committees. Republicans will chair these committees going forward. McCarthy, though, took extra steps to ensure certain swamp dwellers got what was coming to them.

This is good news, even if you didn’t want McCarthy to become the next Speaker. He just removed three notorious Democrats from their positions on powerful committees. He just gave Eric Swalwell, Adam Schiff, and Ilhan Omar the boot.

These Democrats served on important Intel and Foreign Affairs committees. Despite all three of them having shady histories, Pelosi gave them access to privileged information. Eric Swalwell was known to be compromised by a literal Chinese spy. Yet he remained on committees that handled top-secret information.

Adam Schiff has been repeatedly outed for lying to the American people. He, again and again, made claims about Trump during the impeachment probe. Yet he was proven wrong constantly. Despite his tarnished record and damaged reputation, Pelosi didn’t remove him.

And do I have to tell you about Ilhan Omar? Forget the repeated ethics complaints that suggest she misused campaign cash. She has long slandered the United States, her second home, and attacked our ally, Israel. She has spoken fondly of radical Islamic groups and spread anti-Semitic rhetoric. Yet Pelosi kept rewarding her.

The removal of these Democrats from these committees is long overdue. Good thing McCarthy is in charge.
