Sen. Joe Manchin from West Virginia has long been considered a “moderate” Democrat. Seeing as how he’s from a very conservative state, it makes sense he hasn’t gone all-in with Joe Biden’s insane socialist agenda. But he’s hit some serious snags recently, after supporting the left’s falsely named “Inflation Reduction Act.” And with his re-election around the corner, he could be in big trouble.
Manchin has long criticized his party for reckless spending. He’s opposed several critical Democrat bills recently, striking huge blows against Biden’s agenda. But the polling back home isn’t great. Manchin might need to make a big move if he wants to protect his job. And, during a recent interview on Fox News, he might have hinted at that big move.
From Daily Wire:
Manchin participated in a Sunday interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
“My main concern is how do we bring this country together? How do we make it work?” […]
“Do you still identify as a Democrat?” Bartiromo repeatedly asked Manchin.
“I identify as an American,” Manchin responded. “I’m an American through and through.”
Huh, how interesting. Joe Manchin, who has been a Democrat for his entire career, suddenly refused to say that he was a Democrat during this interview. The host, Maria Bartiromo, pressed him several times asking, “Do you still identify as a Democrat?”
Manchin’s reply was only, “I identify as an American.”
Now, that might have simply been his attempts at sounding patriotic and cooperative, considering he was on Fox News. But what Democrat, these days, doesn’t proudly announce they are Democrats? You wouldn’t catch Joe Biden giving this answer. Nor Democrat Chuck Schumer.
So, why was Manchin unwilling to say he “identifies” as a Democrat? Could this mean he’s planning to jump ship? Is he about to join Krysten Sinema and leave the party? Will he become an independent or–gasp!–a Republican?
There are even rumors floating that Manchin is considering a presidential run. If that was the case, perhaps he’d run as an independent or moderate Republican? His answer raises many questions. Perhaps questions Joe Biden doesn’t want to be asking, just a year before an election?
Could Manchin make a very big announcement about his party affiliations soon? We’ll find out.
- Joe Manchin refused to say he was a Democrat during an interview.
- Instead, he said he “identifies as an American.”
- The senator hails from a very conservative state and has battled his party for years.
