First 2024 Contender Just Dropped Out – He “Suspends” His Campaign Indefinitely

What’s Happening:

Last week, the top Republican candidates for president attended the first debate. Millions of Americans watched the debates, with certain candidates coming out on top. There are still many months until voting begins, and anything can tip the scales in a candidate’s favor.

But there were several Republicans running for president who did not attend the debates. They did not qualify for one reason or another. And it seems this could have had a bigger impact on their chances than people thought. Now, one hyped-up Republican candidate is the first to drop out of the race.

From Fox News:

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez suspended his White House campaign Tuesday, a week after he failed to qualify for the first Republican presidential nomination debate…

“I have decided to suspend my campaign for President,” Suarez said in a statement, noting that “my commitment to making this a better nation for every American remains.” […]

The mayor, who launched his long-shot presidential nomination bid in June, was one of the last candidates to enter the race.

Mayor of Miami, Franci Suarez announced he was ending his campaign for president. Suarez jumped into the race in June, one of the last to announce his candidacy. But he failed to qualify for the debate, either because of low polling or a lack of funds raised.

Suarez said that although he is dropping out, he hasn’t abandoned his “commitment” to making America better for every citizen.

The GOP debate famously lacked the presence of Donald Trump, who is leading in the polls. According to some pundits, Gov. Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy came out as the winners of the night’s debate.

Trump is facing intense challenges to his campaign, including four indictments and other attacks from the left. Despite this, he appears to be gaining support rather than losing it. DeSantis, who was his closest rival before he entered the race, appears to have lost support over the summer.

Could more candidates announce they are dropping out soon? We’ll see.

Key Takeaways:

  • Miami Mayor Francis Suarez is suspending his presidential campaign.
  • Suarez, a Republican, failed to qualify for last week’s GOP debate.
  • The Hispanic American entered the race in June and was considered a long shot.
