Kamala Tries To Capitalize on Puerto Rico Joke, But Then Her Own Past Scandal Comes Out

With less than a week to go before Election Day, this race is in its final stretch. Despite Democrats’ best efforts to ensure that Trump will lose this election, the Republican is still neck and neck with Kamala Harris.

In fact, the race is so tight that the smallest of things could end up deciding it. That’s why Harris wasted no time in trying to capitalize on a joke that a roast comedian made at Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. There, the comedian Tony Hinchcliffe joked that Puerto Rico is an “island of garbage.”

Harris immediately tried to get herself a boost from the backlash that came in over this joke. Unfortunately for Harris, her own past has since come back to haunt her. Indeed, she had a moment in Puerto Rico earlier this year that was so bad that even The New York Times admitted that it was an “epic fail.”

From Western Journal:
The moment came during her first official visit to Puerto Rico in March, part of what the Times called a trip to “highlight the Biden administration’s dedication to aiding the island’s recovery.”

However, there were plenty of protests that met her when she arrived, with a lot of people singing protest songs. Harris is apparently not too linguistically equipped in all things en español, apparently, which led to some awkward moments.

For instance, she clapped along with a protest song in which people asked, “We want to know, Kamala, what did you come here for? We want to know what you think of the colony.” She did this until an aide told her what they were saying, at which point she stood, stone-faced, like someone who knew she’d just gotten herself into a viral moment.

Relive that humiliating Harris moment for yourself in the video below.

A Perfect Summary Of Harris’ Political Career

When it came to this debacle, even the super-liberal New York Times could not defend Harris.

“In a scene reminiscent of the HBO show Veep, the vice president clapped haplessly along to the Spanish protest songs that greeted her, apparently not realizing the lyrics were critical of her visit,” Yarimar Bonilla wrote in the Times.

Ouch, that has got to hurt!

This is, quite frankly, a perfect summary of Harris’ sham of a political career. It’s been fail after fail for her, with each humiliation seemingly topping the last one.

This is also karma at its finest. Despite the fact that it was a comedian, and not Trump himself, who made this joke about Puerto Rico, Harris and her fellow Democrats have tried to make it look as if it’s the former president who has a disparaging view of the U.S. territory. As shown in the above clip, it’s clearly Harris who the people of Puerto Rico actually view as “garbage” in this race.

With the race as close as it is, Harris is grasping at straws at this point. While it’s understandable that she would be trying to use anything she can against Trump right now, she might want to take her own history into account before attacking him in the future.

Key Takeaways:

  • Harris tries to use anti-Puerto Rico joke against Trump.
  • Harris’ humiliating Puerto Rico incident from earlier this year has since resurfaced.
  • Yet another “epic fail” for Harris.
