Democrats have stood in solidarity to their dear president throughout his term in office. Whatever lord Biden has said, Democrats have followed in line with great fervor.
But that blind obedience to the party narrative promoted by Biden appears to be in jeopardy with an election looming and Biden’s results (or lack of) on full display. The line of Democrats standing arm-in-arm to defend Biden’s administration has been broken.
Republicans pushed through legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives this week that attacks Biden on one of his weakest policies. Democrats sided with Republicans to make sure the measure passed with a strong majority.
From Blaze Media:
In a 223-191 vote, the House of Representatives passed a resolution that decries “the Biden administration’s open-borders policies” and presses for the administration to rescind them and “implement policies that end his administration’s border crisis.”The resolution includes language asserting that “President Joe Biden and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas have created the worst border security crisis in the Nation’s history” and that “President Biden, beginning on day one of his administration, systematically dismantled effective border security measures and interior immigration enforcement.”
Thirteen Democrats and 210 Republicans voted in favor of passing the resolution while 191 Democrats opposed it.
This is a considerable shift in loyalty for the Democrats who joined the Republicans to stand against Biden’s open border policies that have let in more than 7 million illegal immigrants. Maybe the vote is due to the election cycle where some Democrats are in vulnerable districts with increased voter sentiment leaning Republican.
The 13 Democrats who flipped in the voter are representatives: The 13 Democrats who voted in favor of passage include: Nikki Budzinski of Illinois; Yadira Caraveo of Colorado; Angie Craig of Minnesota; Henry Cuellar of Texas; Sharice Davids of Kansas; Donald Davis of North Carolina; Jared Golden of Maine; Josh Harder of California; Steven Horsford of Nevada; Susie Lee of Nevada; Mary Sattler Peltola of Alaska; Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington; and Eric Sorensen of Illinois.
The Democrat support for this bill is important because of the language that is highly critical of Biden’s policies. The text states that the House “affirms the Biden administration has taken executive actions that created the current border crisis” and “condemns the public safety crisis caused by the Biden administration’s open-borders policies.”
How bold of a shift this is for these Democrats is shown when compared to the vote earlier this year to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas. This is Biden’s man in charge who is allowing the border crisis to continue. No Democrats voted for impeachment that passed on party lines, 214-213.
Democrats in the Senate then held the party line and killed the impeachment process on a strict partisan vote.
Key Takeaways:
- A baker’s dozen of Democrats vote to condemn Biden’s open-border policies.
- The 13 representatives in the House joined the majority GOP to pass the bill.
- The measure states Biden has created the worst border crisis in U.S. history.
