House After GOP Join Trump in Court – A Surprise Red Wave Strikes Hard

Earlier in the week, three top Republican lawmakers accompanied Donald Trump to his criminal trial in New York City. The leaders included Sens. JD Vance and Tommy Tuberville. The moment revealed how unified the party is becoming behind Trump, even as Democrats tried to convict him.

It looks like these three Republican lawmakers aren’t the only party members joining the fight. Because soon after they made the trip, the House Speaker made an announcement.

From Fox News:
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is expected in downtown Manhattan on Tuesday morning to show solidarity with former President Trump during his criminal trial.

A spokesperson for Johnson told Fox News Digital early on Tuesday that he would be in New York City for the trial, making him the latest Trump ally in Congress to appear beside the ex-president in the Manhattan Criminal Court.

Speaker Johnson also accompanied Trump to court this week, as a sign of solidarity against the Democrat-run prosecution. Johnson has previously shown support for the Trump campaign, traveling to Florida to meet with the former president on several occasions.

Trump has also voiced support for the current Speaker in the face of opposition within the party. Now, it looks like the floodgates have broken as more Republican stars show up to court.

From Fox News:
Former President Trump’s unprecedented trial in Manhattan is featuring support from GOP lawmakers and politicians who have been floated as potential running mates for Trump’s 2024 run.

Outside the courtroom Tuesday, Trump was flanked by North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, Florida Rep. Cory Mills and former 2024 GOP contender Vivek Ramaswamy, all of whom are defenders of the 45th president and could be in the running as potential vice presidential picks.

Joining Speaker Johnson were other notable Republicans. Many of these names have been on shortlists for Trump’s pending running mate pick. They all appeared with him at court—a powerful sign that they are backing the Republican nominee in the face of what they call political prosecution.

It could very well be that one of these Republicans will end up Trump’s vice president pick. I can’t imagine Trump picking someone who did not go the extra mile to show up at the courthouse to decry this prosecution. This might even spark a trend among Republican lawmakers. Anyone who wants to stare down the left’s scheme could show up at the courthouse.

Key Takeaways:

  • House Speaker Johnson accompanied Donald Trump at the NY courthouse, following three other Republican lawmakers.
  • Johnson was joined by numerous Republican figures, some of whom are being considered as Trump’s running mate.
  • Republicans have denounced the Democrat-run trials as political prosecution.
