GOP Leaders Just Passed a Major Bill – Not a Single Democrat Voted for This Commonsense Rule

Democrats keep spouting off about how they want what is best for Americans—and then they oppose something designed for all citizens. This pattern among leftist has gone from tiresome to infuriating for people who care about the country.

Republicans keep trying to enact common sense laws that override the anti-Constitution attitude of the elitist Democrats. GOP leadership continues to press the simple idea that the people deserve better than what is being handed them by the Democrats.

The latest GOP attempt to help Americans came in the form of a proposed law to make sure people voting in elections have the right to vote. Republicans keep fighting to protect the rights of citizens and making their votes count during elections.

From Fox News:
The House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday evening to add a citizenship question to the next U.S. census, with zero Democrats voting in favor.

“If you are an illegal immigrant, you should not be represented in the U.S. Congress,” House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., told Fox News Digital after the vote. “It’s a shame that House Democrats are allowing their open-borders agenda to get in the way of common sense.”

The legislation is called the Equal Representation Act, led by Rep. Chuck Edwards, R-N.C. The bill would also exclude non-citizens from the population count when factoring how many lawmakers in the House of Representatives each state gets, as well as the number of electors for all 50 states.

Democrats stood arm-in-arm in voting against protecting Americans’ voting rights. The bill passed with 206 Republicans in favor and 202 Democrats against.

Adding a citizenship question on the U.S. census has been tried before. Former President Donald Trump pushed the additional question before the 2020 census, but it was blocked by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Edwards said only citizens should be counted for apportionment – the number of representatives in the House per state – and illegal aliens should be excluded. He highlighted that the larger number of people in certain states, thanks to illegal alien populations, could boost the number of electoral votes and weigh in favor of those states in presidential elections.

The Biden administration has allowed more than 7 million immigrants to cross the U.S. border during his time in office and has flown hundreds of thousands of immigrants into major cities across the states. Only Biden’s team knows the strategy behind the placement of illegal immigrants.

“And since the illegal alien population is not evenly distributed throughout the nation, American citizens in some states are losing representation in Congress to illegal aliens in other states,” Edwards said.

Edwards was joined in promoting the bill by like-minded Republicans calling out Democrats’ determination to secure political power over the rights of citizens.

“You could see why my Democratic colleagues would have a problem with this bill,” said Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn. “Factoring illegal aliens into the process skews things in their favor. If the census does not include the citizenship question, states with more illegal aliens will get more congressional districts and more electoral college votes.”

While the majority of Republicans supported the bill’s passage, it is unlikely the measure will pass the Democrat-controlled Senate. Even if the Senate embraced the bill, the president would surely exercise his veto power against the measure.

Key Takeaways:

  • Republicans added a citizenship question into a census bill, and it passed the House.
  • The GOP majority said illegal immigrants should not be represented in Congress.
  • Republicans argued that millions of illegal aliens could affect presidential elections.
