Few first couples in American history have been vilified as much as Donald and Melania Trump. Indeed, the Trumps have been put through the wringer by the hateful liberal media for much of the past decade.
Against all odds, Donald and Melania have persevered, and they remain devoted to one another to this day. Melania details their relationship and her own life in her memoir Melania, which came out last week.
In a new interview, Donald is opening up about this memoir for the first time. In a rare show of vulnerability from the former president, Donald has admitted that he was “nervous” when Melania told him of her intent to write it.
From Newsweek:
“She wrote something very good. I was a little bit nervous before I read it,” Trump admitted. “You never know, maybe she said bad things, but she didn’t.”Although Melania has often kept a low profile throughout Trump’s political career, her presence has made an impact. Trump acknowledged her influence during the interview but pushed back against calling her a “secret weapon.”
“I wouldn’t call it a weapon. ‘Secret weapon’ is a tough term. But she’s great. She’s a wonderful person. She was a great first lady. People love her,” Trump added, before moving on to another topic.
Donald may not think that Melania is his “secret weapon,” but she certainly isn’t a hindrance to his campaign.
Though the mainstream media frequently mocks Melania and tries to portray her as a hateful woman, she’s actually very popular among conservatives. Her popularity has been showcased by the fact that her memoir is already a major hit.
Conservatives respect her as a woman who was born in poverty in communist Europe and managed to managed to make it all the way to the White House. Her story is far more inspiring than that of the average First Lady, who typically hails from a wealthy American family.
Melania’s Surprising Revelation
Melania was nothing but loyal to Donald when describing him and their marriage in her memoir. However, there’s one portion of the book that likely made the former president quite “nervous” indeed. In this part of the memoir, Melania opened up to the world about her opinions on reproductive rights for the first time.
In a surprising twist, Melania is actually pro-choice. The former First Lady wrote that the decision about whether or not to get an abortion should be made between a woman and her doctor, “free from government intervention.”
“Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body?” Melania wrote.
This is in contrast to Donald, who has said that abortion law should be decided by the states. He has also boasted about getting Roe v. Wade overturned by the Supreme Court thanks largely to three justices that he appointed.
Melania has since said that Donald has been aware of her abortion stance throughout their entire relationship. This just goes to show that couples don’t need to agree on every political and social issue in order to stay together.
Whether you agree with Melania on abortion or not, her stance shows that she is a woman who has her own mind. The mainstream media has tried to portray Melania as a weak person who is subservient to her husband. In reality, this could not be further from the truth. Instead, Melania is a strong woman who thinks for herself. This is likely partly what drew Donald to her in the first place.
In the end, we can understand why Donald was “nervous” about this memoir at first, but it’s clear that he had nothing to worry about!
