After Top Democrat’s Leaked Scandal Breaks – Her Career Goes Into a Sudden Tailspin

Actions speak louder than words, but sometimes negative words bring about bad reactions. One of the most outspoken liberal Democrats in Congress was slammed after someone on her staff showed the world how she occasionally acts away from the public eye.

The big dose of karma that hit this Democrat came on one of the biggest political stages in Texas, and at stake was the mayoral seat of the largest city in the Lone Star state. The recent election pitted two Democrats against each other, and it was a one-sided smackdown.

Elections in big cities can get intense and the recent runoff election in Houston didn’t disappoint. Texas Sen. John Whitmire and U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, both Democrats, didn’t go the way the national party faithful were hoping for — as Lee lost in a landslide.

A shocking setback for Jackson Lee in the race, and for her national reputation, was the revelation of a revealing audio recording. The congresswoman has a reputation for being harsh with her staff, according to the Daily Caller, and someone exposed her for allegedly calling some members of her staff “fu** ups” and questioning their intelligence.

“You took a piece of paper from that woman regarding something that was owned by Duncantell. Where is it? What date was it,” Jackson Lee allegedly asked a staffer in the audio. “I don’t want you to do a goddam thing. I want you to have a f—ing brain. I want you to have read it. I want you to say, ‘Congresswoman, with such and such date.’ That’s what I want. That’s the kind of staff that I want to have. So some stupid other motherfucker did it.”

If that wasn’t enough, Jackson Lee’s campaign published an ad telling voters to go vote, but the date they gave was two days before the election. The ad was spread across Houston television stations.

Jackson Lee, who was re-elected to Congress in 2022 with nearly a 45-point margin, tanked in the final results of the mayoral election. Whitmire garnered almost two-thirds of the vote while Jackson Lee faltered.

News reports are showing that Jackson Lee, 73, has filed to run for re-election in the House for Texas’ 18th district. The 15-term Democrat, who was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1994, was previously a municipal judge in Houston.

Key Takeaways:

  • Liberal Democrat representative in the U.S. House fails in mayoral bid.
  • Leaked audio and botched campaign ad appear to tank her campaign.
  • The miscues sent Democrat voters flocking to a state rep for the win.
