Democrats Criticized Over Inappropriate Debunked Vance Smear They Continue Repeating

Democrats have long claimed that, when their enemies “go low,” they “go high.” Liberals have claimed to take the high road against Trump, even after they’ve sued him, slandered him, indicted him, and called him a Nazi. Quite the high road, eh? I think the devil is a little bit embarrassed by these guys.

The most recent “high road” the left has taken is in their criticisms of JD Vance. Even though he is a veteran, accomplished businessman, and successful senator, they are trying to smear him with a vulgar joke,

The joke is entirely false, even fact-checked as such by media outlets. But that hasn’t stopped Democrats from spreading this lie across social media. Now, Democrats are facing the music for their endless stream of hypocrisy. Thanks to this dishonest slander, they can no longer claim to be “high road” campaigners. And Trump is coming to get them.

From Fox News:
Democrats have continued to push a vulgar falsehood about former President Trump’s running mate Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, despite the claim being debunked weeks ago.

“It undermines their moralizing about Trump’s falsehoods and gives Trump an opportunity to say it’s ‘the pot calling the kettle black,’” Democratic strategist Julian Epstein told Fox News Digital.

Democrats: the Perennial Hypocrites

In a striking example of political mudslinging gone wrong, Democrats continue to push a vulgar and debunked rumor about Senator JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, despite widespread fact-checks discrediting the claim. The baseless attack, which originated from a social media meme last month, falsely alleges that Vance detailed a lewd act in his memoir, Hillbilly Elegy. Even after the claim was debunked, Democrats have doubled down, using it to score cheap political points—only to have it blow up in their faces.

The smear campaign took center stage when Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, referenced the baseless rumor during a recent speech in Philadelphia. “I got to tell you, I can’t wait to debate Vance. That is if—if he’s willing to get off the couch and show up,” Walz quipped, much to the delight of the crowd and Harris herself, who smirked at the joke.

The moment went viral on social media, racking up millions of views on the Harris campaign’s TikTok account. However, the humor quickly turned sour as it became clear that the joke was based on a completely fabricated story.

This isn’t the first time Democrats have clung to the debunked rumor. From Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s snide remarks about Vance’s “obsession with couches” to Florida Congressman Jared Moskowitz’s jab about Air Force 2 having a “great couch,” the party has repeatedly leaned into the false narrative, hoping to score laughs and political points. But their persistence in spreading this lie is increasingly seen as hypocritical, especially given their frequent criticism of Trump for allegedly spreading misinformation.

Pot Calling Kettle Black?

Even Democratic strategist Julian Epstein has criticized the party’s strategy, warning that it could backfire. “It undermines their moralizing about Trump’s falsehoods and gives Trump an opportunity to say it’s ‘the pot calling the kettle black,’” Epstein told Fox News Digital. Indeed, the continued use of this debunked rumor not only contradicts the Democrats’ self-proclaimed commitment to truth but also exposes a glaring double standard.

The irony of the situation is hard to miss. Democrats, who famously championed the phrase “when they go low, we go high,” are now engaging in the very behavior they once condemned. Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s iconic message during the 2016 Democratic National Convention was meant to elevate political discourse. Yet here we are, with some of the party’s top figures indulging in baseless and vulgar attacks, all while trying to memory-hole the failures of the Biden-Harris administration.

However, the damage may already be done. As Democrats hammer away at Vance with a discredited story, they risk alienating voters who see through the smear tactics. In the end, this gross misstep could serve as yet another example of how playing dirty can backfire, especially when the facts aren’t on your side.

Key Takeaways:

  • Democrats continue to push a debunked rumor about JD Vance, despite widespread fact-checks discrediting the claim.
  • The smear campaign contradicts the Democrats’ past criticisms of Trump’s alleged misinformation and exposes a glaring double standard.
  • Democratic strategist Julian Epstein warns that continuing to use the false claim could backfire, undermining the party’s credibility.
