After Trump wins CPAC Straw Poll – 2024 Contender Makes Hair-Raising Claim That It Could Be Rigged

What’s Happening:

Over the weekend, numerous conservative leaders and supporters attended the Conservative Political Action Conference. This event is often a major turning point in the conservative calendar. And this year, it gave several politicians a chance to make their case for the GOP nomination.

There are several Republicans running for president including CEO and businessman, Vivek Ramaswamy. Ramaswamy is an outsider who hopes to win over Americans eager for a change. But the Republican candidate has something to say about the notable conference. And he is casting doubt on its straw polling.

From Just the News:

The presidential campaign for GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy says a political consultant with ties to the Conservative Political Action Conference posed a deal in which the consultant would bus people to the event to get them to vote for Ramaswamy in the closing-day straw poll in exchange for $100,000.

This is pretty alarming. Ramaswamy claims that someone connected to CPAC promised to help him win the straw poll… for $100,000. The way it would have worked was, this consultant would have bused people to the conference on the day of the straw poll. They would have all voted for Ramaswamy, giving him an edge.

According to Ramaswamy’s people, they declined the proposal. Now, he appears to be blowing the whistle on this conservative event. The person who made the offer has not been named. It is unclear if CPAC knew about this arrangement or not.

But if true, it casts a tremendous amount of doubt on the institution. For years, conservatives have accused Democrats of “rigging” the system. Yet it is possible that CPAC itself is rigged, with politicians buying votes to make it look like they are in the lead.

This year’s straw poll had Donald Trump winning by 62%. But should anyone believe that? Straw polls are hardly scientific and do not reflect the party overall. Despite that, winning a CPAC poll can help elevate a candidate, regardless.

Perhaps CPAC needs to take Ramaswamy’s revelations seriously, or else they might lose the confidence of Republican supporters.

Key Takeaways:

  • GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy claimed someone offered to help him win the CPAC straw poll.
  • The consultant wanted $100,000 to bus people to the event, so they could vote for Ramaswamy.
  • Ramaswamy declined the offer; Donald Trump ended up winning by 62%.
