Congress Announces Major Social Security Changes – Their Plan Would Affect Millions

Something’s not right about the changes Democrats want to make.

We’ve heard for a long time that Social Security is in trouble. Without major changes to the program, it will not last another generation.

Congress is trying to do something, so that future generations can enjoy SS benefits. And that existing seniors can receive increased benefits.

They have put forward a bill to that effect.

From The Hill:

More than 200 House Democrats on Wednesday reintroduced legislation to expand Social Security by increasing benefits for recipients…

The legislation would provide an increase in benefits for recipients that’s equivalent to 2 percent of the average benefit…

The bill also includes some provisions designed to strengthen the solvency of the Social Security trust fund, such as subjecting wages above $400,000 to the payroll tax and phasing in an increase in the contribution rate, so that workers and employers would be paying 7.4 percent in 2043 instead of the current 6.2 percent.

Sounds good, right? I mean, who wouldn’t want more money in their Social Security checks?

But there’s a big problem with their plan: how to pay for it.

SHARE to tell Washington we need Social Security reform—not socialism!

The Democrats’ solution to Social Security is to blindly increase benefits while raising taxes on workers.

They want to raise taxes on Americans by 7.4 percent. That will only result in a 2 percent bump in benefits.

Um, now I’m not good at math, but that doesn’t seem to compute. Why are they taking much more in taxes, but only paying out a small increase?

Perhaps, because, Social Security is yet another scheme for Democrats to plunder working Americans? They take in more taxes, giving out less benefits.

Meanwhile, the people who sit on committees in Congress get higher salaries. The Social Security Administration staff get fatter paychecks.

Hmm… I smell a rat.

The truth is, millions of Americans worked hard for decades, thinking they “paid into” Social Security.

They should at least get the benefits they deserve.

Major reforms must take place to ensure SS doesn’t bankrupt the country. Future generations might not get the kind of benefits we see now. But at least they will still be able to earn a paycheck!
