From the beginning, the investigation into President Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia has been a total miscarriage of justice.

We are entering the second year of the investigation and thus far the only ones who have been caught in wrongdoing are the FBI and the Department of Justice for their efforts to subvert Trump’s campaign to help Hillary win.

This lack of progress, as well as clear evidence of corruption, has exasperated House Republicans.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee about the Mueller investigation, and a beleaguered Trey Gowdy demanded them to “finish it the hell up”.

Gowdy’s sentiments echo that of many Americans, who are fed up with these government agencies and their failure to produce meaningful results. They are wasting time and are clearly allowing their bias to impact their decisions, but thus far they have not been held accountable.

House Republicans are determined to change that, and recently passed a resolution which will hopefully shed a light on the FBI’s shadowy tactics.

In a 226-183 vote, lawmakers approved the messaging measure, which calls on the DOJ to turn over all of the documents House Republicans have requested related to the FBI’s handling of investigations during the 2016 presidential election.

The party-line vote, with one Republican voting present, puts the entire conference on the record in the escalating feud between the DOJ and House Republicans, who have been fighting for months for access to a trove of highly sensitive documents.

While the resolution is not enforceable, Republicans say they wanted to send a clear message to the DOJ and are vowing to impeach or hold senior officials in contempt of Congress if they don’t comply with their document request.

Of particular interest to House Republicans is the FBI’s surveillance of Carter Page, the Trump campaign aide who was accused of having ties to Russia, but was ultimately found innocent of any wrongdoing.

The FBI has been releasing their documents related to Page painfully slowly, and the House Freedom Caucus leaders are not having it.

“Enough is enough”, said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on the House Floor. “Give us the documents we are entitled to have. Let’s have the full weight of the House behind a resolution saying you’ve got seven days to get your act together.”

The FBI is clearly afraid of releasing these documents because they’re likely to further implicate them in violating the law. Hopefully, now that this resolution has passed, we can finally begin to restore transparency.
