Woke Cleopatra Movie Hit with Karma – It Just Set an Awful Record It Absolutely Deserves

The 1963 movie Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor was an epic historical drama film. For many Americans, it was Taylor’s beauty and charm that showed the spirit of the Egyptian queen.

The woke crowd doesn’t want to be content with such a legendary film. In their quest to try to disrespect and ruin everything original, they take it upon themselves to replace the leading actor (or actress) in whatever movie they think needs to be redone.

They admit it’s their retelling of history. But if they thought they would get rave reviews from the audience, they will soon learn that they can’t always get what they want.

Instead, they will get what they need. The record-making audience ratings just aren’t what they thought they would be.

From The Daily Wire:

The documentary currently has a 2% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which Forbes says is the lowest in history.

The “average Tomatometer,” which calculates how many critics rate it favorably, stands at 10%.

Here’s how bad that is: The worst film on the movie rating site, Ballistic: Ecks Vs Sever,” in 2002 has a 0% rating on the Tomatometer, but a 20% favorable rating by the audience.

There was nothing wrong with the original Cleopatra, and it is that which the new version is going up against. The main appeal to the audience was the drama, but it didn’t mean the historical accuracy was lacking.

The Egyptian queen was Macedonian-Greek and not black as the community claiming social awareness believes. So does the black Cleopatra documentary have anything to offer story-wise?

The answer is a resounding “No” according to audience ratings. It’s too reductionist to replace the actress, make her race the focus of the story, and accuse a dissatisfied audience of being racist.

In other words, it’s race-baiting. A lot of time, money, and costuming work went into the original Cleopatra, so this version comes off as a cheap bait-and-switch situation.

The woke crowd’s problem is that they refuse to come up with original stories or historical events starring black people. Instead, they choose to blackwash previous movies with the excuse that they reflect white supremacy. Black Cleopatra is another example of how going woke means going broke.

Key Takeaways:

  • Netflix released a new “Queen Cleopatra” documentary starring black actress Adele James as part of its African Queens series.
  • It has a 2% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the lowest in history.
  • The series creator Tina Gharvi claims that according to historians, Cleopatra was black, but she was actually Macedonian-Greek.
