In response, one blue state went out of its way to pass new laws that further restrict Americans’ rights.

This very same state recently came out with a shocking statement. The governor admitted they were coordinating with Big Tech companies, in a move some will say violates another constitutional right.

In a speech delivered by New York Governor Kathy Hochul on Monday, she revealed that the state is “collecting data” from social media “surveillance efforts” in order to combat “hate speech.”…

Hochul said that “personal security is about everything for them.”…

“We expect to see people celebrating their lives, walking about freely, and that is no longer the case because people are living in fear. They have a right to do whatever they want in the state of New York.”

The governor of New York admitted that the state was working with social media companies to collect data on residents to combat “hate speech.” Gov. Hochul claimed this was to prevent “incitement of violence,” so New Yorkers could feel “safe” walking the streets.

At a time when crime is on the rise in New York, thanks to laws passed by the same governor, the state is monitoring social posts for “danger.”

The Democrat might not catch the irony that state resources are being used to collect data on law-abiding citizens, while dangerous criminals are released from jail and free to inflict more harm on residents.

This news comes only a few months after X owner Elon Musk blew the whistle on how social networks censored millions of users. Hochul is admitting that her state is potentially violating the privacy rights of New Yorkers, implicating them in crimes they have not committed.

This kind of surveillance smacks of 1984, where “Big Brother” watched everything people said, did, or thought. New York might be doing this under the guise of keeping people “safe,” but critics might point out that this same policy can be used by politicians to target members of rival parties.

Hochul made this announcement after New York reported a 214% increase in anti-Semitic incidents since the October 7th attack. Yet, instead of restoring policies that keep the streets safe, the Democratic administration is possibly infringing on residents’ constitutional rights.
