In recent days, we’ve seen plenty of anti-leftist, pro-American musicians get canceled by the music industry. One famous country music singer, Jason Aldean, got his song removed from CMT–only for Americans to make it a number-one hit, anyway. But Aldean just took a backseat from a “no-name” musician.
Oliver Anthony is an independent, country and folk singer. He recently released a song “Rich Men North of Richmond” which brutally criticizes the ruling elite in Washington, D.C. Liberals in the media tried to slander the song, in the hopes of canceling him. Guess what happened next?
From The Post Millennial:
Oliver Anthony’s hit song Rich Men North of Richmond has debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart at number one.
According to Billboard, Anthony is the first artist to launch at the top of the list with no prior chart history, and the 69th artist overall to debut a song at number one.
The song, which was officially released on August 11, saw 17.5 million streams and sold 147,000 downloads during the week ending in August 17.
Wow. Anthony’s song hit the Billboard charts at number one. This is the first time someone hit number one with no prior song on the chart. He made literal history. And it was with a song that roasts the liberal elite and crooks in Washington.
The song also criticizes do-nothings who get fat off of government welfare, while hard-working young men go to an early grave trying to provide for their families. The song struck a chord with millions of Americans who feel unheard and powerless by a corrupt, uncaring, leftist administration.
According to reports, Anthony was offered a multi-million dollar deal after his song went viral. He turned it down.
He said, “People in the music industry give me blank stares when I brush off 8 million dollar offers. I don’t want 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers and a jet. I don’t want to play stadium shows, I don’t want to be in the spotlight.”
Yeah, and that’s why Americans love him. He might continue to baffle the left, as he writes songs for Americans, not the music industry.
- Oliver Anthony’s anti-woke song reached number one on Billboard.
- This was the first time someone hit number one without being on the chart before.
- His song “Rich Men North of Richmond” criticizes D.C. hypocrites and big government.
