Biden Announces His 9/11 Plans – Ditches Tradition for Overseas Trip

What’s Happening:

This year, Americans will observe the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th attacks. For over twenty years, American presidents have attended events that commemorate the day and remember those who were lost.

Those events are held at locations from that dark day. Presidents have visited New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or the White House. But this year, Joe Biden is breaking with tradition. He will not be attending events at any of the locations connected to 9/11. Instead, he will be in Alaska, for a stopover from a foreign trip.

From Breitbart:

President Joe Biden will break with tradition next month and mark the 22nd anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks by attending a memorial ceremony in Alaska rather than at one of the customary NYC, Virginia or Pennsylvania events…

Biden will be on a stopover in Alaska for the Sept. 11 observance at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage on his way back to Washington after a trip to Asia.

Biden’s handlers planned for the Democrat to attend a week-long trip in Asia. The trip will span September 7 through September 10th. It is possible they had made these plans, unaware that the very next day was the day of remembrance.

Because Biden will be too far away to recent the East Coast, he is stopping at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. There, it has been reported, he will participate in a ceremony to commemorate the September 11th attacks.

Biden has previously brought criticism for how he’s remembered the attacks. On the twentieth anniversary of the day, he failed to address the country. Every president issued comments or other statements on the anniversary of the attacks.

During his four years in office, Donald Trump delivered remarks at locations involved in the attacks. In 2017 and 2019, he spoke about the day at the Pentagon, which has been one of the targets. In 2018 and 2020, President Trump traveled to the Flight 93 memorial and delivered remarks.

Key Takeaways:

  • Joe Biden will not be attending a 9/11 event on the East Coast.
  • Biden will be returning from an Asian trip and will be stopped in Alaska.
  • The White House reported he will attend some kind of event at Anchorage.
