After Bernie Sanders Makes Huge Israel Mistake – Dems Give Him an Embarrassing Defeat

Since the war in Israel began, there have been numerous progressives criticizing the nation. Far-left Democrats have seemingly sided with Palestinians, accusing Israel of a variety of crimes.

This has created what appears to be a growing rift between progressive and moderate Democrats.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, a Jewish American, has been outspoken against Israel. He has tried to shut down U.S. support for the nation. Recently, he tried to force a vote that could have hindered Israel’s efforts. Both Democrats and Republicans came together to respond.

From Daily Wire:
A bipartisan majority in the Democrat-led Senate rebuffed on Tuesday a measure brought by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) seeking a report on Israel‘s fight against Hamas following the group’s terrorist attacks in October.

The resolution, which sought State Department information on whether U.S. assistance is being used to perpetuate any human rights abuses in the Gaza Strip, was tabled by a 72-11 vote. Sanders, nine Democrats, and one Republican — Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) — voted in favor of advancing it, according to a C-SPAN producer.

Sen. Sanders pushed for a vote that would have, effectively, accused Israel of committing “human rights abuses” in its war against terror group Hamas. But both parties came together to reject the move, in a 72-11 vote.

Bernie has frequently criticized Israel’s response to the horrific events of October 7th. He, along with many other progressives, has accused Israel of responding “disproportionately” to the vile acts of Hamas against civilians.

Progressives have parroted talking points from anti-Israel groups, which seek to eradicate the Jewish state. Sanders has previously tried to limit U.S. support to Israel, which would have hindered its efforts to defeat the terror group.

Many progressives across the country have protested for a ceasefire in the war. But most experts agree that a permanent ceasefire would only allow Hamas to regroup and attack Israel again. It appears the anti-Israel sentiment rife among progressives is rooted in hatred for the nation and perhaps anti-Semitism.

Blowback against anti-Israel progressives has been intense. Activist groups have lost big corporate sponsors, after defending Hamas. Several high-profile university presidents have lost their jobs after refusing to confront the spread of anti-Semitism on campus, after the October 7th attack.

Key Takeaways:

  • Sen. Sanders pushed for a vote that would condemn Israel’s war with Hamas.
  • Both parties rejected the move, in a bipartisan 72-11 vote.
  • Sanders, like many progressives, opposes Israel’s efforts to defeat the terror group.
