Days After Trump Hush Money Trial Starts – Donald’s Former Ally Gives Him Good News

This week, Trump’s next New York trial kicked off. This one is a criminal trial, pushed by Democrat DA Alvin Bragg. It revolves around claims that Trump used “hush money” to silence a woman during the 2016 Election.

Trump maintains his innocence. But it appears the deck’s been stacked against him with the selection of Judge Juan Merchan.

Merchan is a known Democratic donor, with his daughter working for the party. Despite his obvious bias, he refused to recuse himself from the trial. Now, a former Trump lawyer is giving the president some good news.

From Just the News:
Former Trump campaign attorney Jesse Binnall says the hush money trial for the 45th president has a very strong case for the judge to be dismissed.

“This is one of the strongest cases I’ve ever seen for disqualification of a judge who should have recused himself,” he said… “Especially here where you have a judge that has actually donated to the political opponent of a candidate.”…

“So this shows poor judgment for him for even donating to a campaign when he’s when he’s on the bench.”

Judge Merchan shocked the country when he refused to recuse himself from this case—despite having a clear bias against the Republican president. Because of his former activities in donating to Democrats, former Trump lawyer Jesse Binnall says there is a strong case for the judge to be dismissed.

Binnall says Merchan showed “poor judgment” for even donating to a campaign. Binnall explained that “almost every other judge” he’s ever known doesn’t donate to political causes—for this very reason. It creates a clear conflict of interest if a case relates to a political figure.

Yet Merchan has refused to acknowledge his bias. Like Judge Engoron, who presided over Trump’s civil trial, this judge is already showing his disdain for the former president. He has demanded Trump attend every hearing, even at the expense of missing his son’s graduation.

Trump might likely appeal to a higher court to get Merchan removed from this case. Many Americans already believe these trials are politically motivated and bogus. For this judge to show such a tainted view of Trump from the start, he is only confirming that.

Key Takeaways:

  • Former Trump lawyer said the biased judge could be dismissed.
  • The judge presiding over the “hush money” trial donated to Democrats.
  • Despite the obvious conflict, he has refused to recuse himself from the case.
