What’s Happening:

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls herself a “Democratic socialist.” We are supposed to assume that means she believes in the rich paying their “fair share” in taxes. And that it’s the government’s job to “redistribute” that wealth to marginalized groups (meaning: not white people).

But too often, we see that AOC isn’t so much interested in helping Americans, but herself, to a big piece of the pie. She has basked in gifts provided by wealthy organizations–like when she attended the Met Gala in 2021. And now, it looks like she could face serious consequences over what she did with campaign funds.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) complaint cites more than $9,600 in reported campaign credit card expenditures that lacked information on the purpose of the charges. Dan Backer filed the complaint on behalf of the Coolidge Reagan Foundation, a nonprofit organization that’s levied similar complaints.

Yikes. A new complaint has accused AOC of concealing thousands of dollars in campaign spending. According to the report, her campaign spent “tens of thousands of dollars” on card payments for AOC.

It is common for a campaign to spend funds to pay off a credit card if the purchases were for legitimate campaign expenses. But this complaint has alleged that over $9,000 of campaign funds were spent paying off AOC’s card, but she did not reveal what the purchases were.

Which gives rise to the possibility that she was spending campaign cash to pay off credit card purchases that were not campaign-related. Which, of course, is against the law. Her campaign has not listed what those purchases were for, leading this watchdog group to file this FEC complaint.

AOC has faced numerous ethics complaints from the House Ethics Committee. In the past, she was investigated for other possible campaign finance violations. Seems like AOC just can’t stop herself from taking advantage of all the wealth and fame her job provides.

But will this complaint actually prove she is breaking the law? We can’t be sure. But this should be enough to discourage voters from backing this “socialist” ever again. We can only hope.
