Conservative Group Claims ABC Made Major Debate Mistake, Incorrectly Fact-Checked Pro-Life Laws

Millions of Americans were left disgusted by the way ABC News hosted the first debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris on Monday night. In the eyes of many, it was three-on-one, as moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis made it obvious just how biased they were in Harris’ favor.

Indeed, Muir and David fact-checked Trump on five different occasions throughout the two-hour debate. Meanwhile, they did not fact-check Harris a single time despite her numerous blatant lies.

Now, one conservative group is firing back at ABC in a big way. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America has sent an official letter to ABC News demanding that a correction be issued over one of the moments in which Davis fact-checked Trump.

From Fox News:
“[The] ABC News Presidential Debate featured network moderator Linsey Davis attempting to debunk former President Trump’s assertion that some states allow for the killing of an infant after birth,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America president Marjorie Dannenfelser wrote in the letter obtained by Fox News Digital.

Trump Fact-Checked Over Abortion Claim

During the debate, Trump was fact-checked by Davis after he referred to comments previously made by the former Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam in 2019. In these infamous remarks, Northam suggested that in some instances of third-trimester abortions, a baby could be born alive. When this happens, a “discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,” according to Northam.

“The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,” Northam said.

When Trump brought this up, Davis immediately stepped in.

“There is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after it’s born,” she said.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, however, is not having any of this. They allege that Davis’ correction was “inaccurate” and must be corrected immediately.

More from Fox News:
“This is 100% inaccurate. Her statement tragically ignores the reality of babies who survive failed, late-term abortions but are denied basic medical care and left to die,” Dannenfelser wrote.

“We are writing to request a swift correction from Ms. Davis and ABC News. It is undeniable that babies are born in this country after failed abortions, as the facts below demonstrate,” she continued.

“It’s also a fact that, as a U.S. senator, Kamala Harris voted against protections for babies born alive after failed abortions. And as a member of Congress, her running mate Tim Walz even issued a public apology for ‘accidentally’ voting for said legislation after he previously voted against it,” Dannenfelser wrote.

Aside from a correction, Dannenfelser also called on ABC to meet with abortion survivors. She described these survivors as being “a living testament to the need for born-alive protections.”

The Debate Was Stacked Against Trump

This is just one example of how this debate was stacked against Trump before it even started. ABC News came in prepared to fact-check Trump for anything under the sun. Meanwhile, Muir and Davis allowed Harris to get away with saying anything she wanted, with none of her mistruths and exaggerations being questioned in any way.

Even if this effort is unsuccessful, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America should be applauded for this effort to get ABC to issue a correction. Hopefully, this is only the beginning of ABC being held accountable for essentially rigging this debate in Trump’s favor.

It continues to be frustrating that the liberal mainstream media finds ways to sway debates in favor of their candidates with “fact-checks.” If these moderators were truly unbiased, they would have been fact-checking Harris left and right as well.

Key Takeaways:

  • Conservative group demands correction from ABC after debate.
  • Moderators fact-checked Trump five times.
  • The moderators didn’t fact-check Harris once, showing their bias.
