Parenting and education are two of the hottest topics debated today, as schools appear to be overstepping their authority and concerned parents across the nation keep fighting back.

Included in the arguments are subjects like Critical Race Theory (CRT) and how school districts handled the pandemic. But there’s another issue that’s hugely controversial.

But as far as Texas is concerned, there’s only one way to deal with it.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has been a champion for right-wing citizens for years, and he’s heavily criticized the Biden administration for their border policies. He too resisted federal coronavirus mandates.

Now, he’s battling those who commit “child abuse” in the name of “transgender transition.”

The Governor penned a strongly worded letter to the state’s Department of Family and Protective Services, demanding that all agencies investigate “transitioning procedures” across Texas.

Abbott cited doctors, nurses, and teacher as those who are responsible for reporting such incidents.

And if they don’t report the incidents, they will be subject to “criminal penalties,” because Gov. Abbott’s administration views such practices as child abuse. And many conservative parents would agree.

He added (via Washington Examiner):

There are similar reporting requirements and criminal penalties for members of the general public.

Texas law also imposes a duty on DFPS to investigate the parents of a child who is subjected to these abusive gender-transitioning procedures, and on other state agencies to investigate licensed facilities where such procedures may occur.

In effect, Gov. Abbott is simply looking to enforce existing law. And Texas isn’t the only state to view gender-transitioning procedures on children as abuse.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton agrees with Abbott’s stance, as he said in a press release that certain sex change operations on kids, and giving them puberty blockers, qualifies as child abuse.

As Paxton stated in a press release:

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services has a responsibility to act accordingly.

I’ll do everything I can to protect against those who take advantage of and harm young Texans.

It’s an example of Texas lawmakers striking another blow for their right-wing followers. And many will say it’s a victory for common sense and, in fact, for the science of simple biology.

Gov. Abbott signed a law in 2021 that required all youths – transgender included – to play with their biological sex on public school sports teams.

On the other side, Democrats will contend that children know what they “feel” and as such, they’re allowed to “identify” as any given gender (or no gender at all, in some cases).

This has been widely criticized by healthcare professionals, educators, and other experts, however. And millions of American parents aren’t on board with this far-left thinking, which could prove disastrous to a child’s health.

They worry about these children’s mental and physical health, and Texas refuses to let the radical left ruin the lives of its youth for the sake of political correctness.
